The Challenge
BMF Port Burgas needed a faster and more accurate process to generate Appendix 9 for the needs of the holding and those of the auditors. They also needed to automate the accounting cycle, the closing process and simplify the task of providing certified financial information to managers and stakeholders.
Solution We Offered to Our Partner
RS Consult BG worked along with a leading third party consultancy provider to define and document their data governance goals and establish unified accounts and mappings. On corporate level in the group the client has IBM Cognos environment for Data warehouse (Netezza), ETL (IBM Datastage), Data mapping tool (RefQ) and Data visualization through IBM TM1. RSC’s first focus was on creating a data model and extracting, transforming and loading the data into it. The consultants unified many accounts and defined the mapping in the data mapping tool. The Company structure and Accounts were loaded also in Cognos Controller. Useful forms and reports were created there to help the BMF Port Burgas accountants validate the data. After the data was confirmed, RSC loaded it in the OLAP cubes of TM1 and used CAFÉ (Cognos Analytics for Excel) to load the data in a useful format for BMF Port Burgas managers and auditors. At the end, User Roles and Access was defined for security and organizational purposes.
The Benefits
Now BMF Port Burgas can serve the needs of Advance Properties group, managers and auditors with reliable financial data. They do not need to export the data manually from the ERP and to load it into Excel, which may lead to errors. Everything is now done automatically and can be used whenever needed without any additional efforts. BMF Port Burgas also saw an increase in efficiency of getting the data they needed in order to make important business decisions.
